Farmer Interaction in Paschim Medinipur District, WB, India
To ascertain the impact of market participation on horticulture-farmers’ income and per capita consumption, an empirical study was performed in the villages of Kharagpur Block I, West Medinipur. A quasi-experimental method is used to identify the ex-post impact of vegetable commercialization. To ensure smooth market participation and provide transparent market opportunity, the Government should focus on creating more market prospects through the restructuring of existing market policy. The introduction of digital platforms in marketing may also enhance the market participation of vegetable growers.
